Tear down of a 23XL Carrier chiller showed signs of inner seal failure of the slide valve. The assembly pictured here shows scoring and copper plating along the shaft, requiring replacement. This issue can prevent the chiller from achieving full load capacity, with the valve sticking on the deformed parts of the shaft as it tries to actuate.
